Knit From Your Stash 2007!

Ok, from Teylas site, who got this from Wendys site:
Kat's Guidelines:
1. The Knit-From-Your-Stash-a-Thon will start January 1, 2007 and run through September 30, 2007 -- a period of nine months.
2. I will not buy any yarn during that period, with the following exceptions:
2.a. If someone asks for a specific knitted gift that I really and truly do not have the yarn for, I may buy yarn to knit that gift.
2.b If I am knitting something and run out of yarn, I may purchase enough to complete the project.
2.c. I get one "Get Out of Jail Free" card -- I am allowed to fall off the wagon one time.
3. I am allowed to receive gifts of yarn. (Please take note of this LOL!)

I know, laugh if you will, but I never want to have more yarn than my little two shelves can hold and I'm close to that point. Plus I need to focus on the projects I have and NOT start a new one! I'm such a ho when it comes to projects I swear, I love the thrill of the "new" relationship it offers LOL. This year I need to tie-up the loose ends of all my on going relationships. Boy do I have a list of them too! Oooh but a challenge is almost as good as a new project! How brave are you?

104

That was my temperature Thursday as I woke up with a rip snortin' case of strep throat. My oldest had it also along with scarlet fever, poor kid, he looked like a pink polkadotted something or another LOL. DD had it also, we all are on antibiotics and DH is showing signs of coming down with it now. The middle two boys? Yeah, they'll be spared probably and they're the two that need to be slowed down a bit ya know? Driving me nuts they are. I've been in a haze until this morning and don't really remember much besides the back of my eyelids. (I slept a ton.)

Thank you for all the happy birthdays! This was really one of the best holiday/birthday weeks I have had in a long time, even with the strep throat by golly! I have to work tomorrow so probably will come home and share a drink with my honey pie and crash after the ball does it's terribly boring "why are we watching this again this year" drop. Then of course I have to work Monday 6-11 so I get to miss the Rose Bowl, grrrrrrrr. I really enjoy college football, they play to prove themselves and it's makes for a great game. Oh, and the Christmas tree? We took that down today! Woo Hooo, I really love to have that down to start the New Year off. So much space in the livingroom again.

I have done a bit of work on my pink King Tut sweater and will post a photo next year sometime. LOL I just love saying that. So, with that, have a safe, peaceful and wonderful new year. See you on the flip side! Peace!

I still can't get any photos off the camera though I have to say the USB port in the front of the 'puter is toast. The one in back? Works great according to my MP3 player LOL. I just need to hook the camera up to it for a wee bit but not tonight, it's late, I'm tired from work and I just want to tell you about my birthday yesterday.

First I went to the arthritis doctor who doesn't think I have
rhuematoid arthritis but is sending me for a test for my thyroid, R.A. and Lupus. He thinks, since I've been having perimenopause symptoms for 5 years that it's osteoarthritis. The tests are more to ease my mind than anything else. My mom told me he was this little jewish man and for some reason I expected this little bald dude like the dentist I went to when I was growing up. Nooooo of course not. This guy was cute and could have been my hubby's cousin or something. He was even older than me which may surprise some of you LOL.

Okay, after talking to a hottie of a doc we went to
Webers Inn in Ann Arbor for lunch. It was my first time eating there and damn, damn, double damn, was it yummmmmmy! We even got escargot and all three boys ate one! I was so proud of them for trying something that is considered, ummm, adventurous. I grew up eating them every Christmas so eating snails doesn't gross me out, as long as they have enough garlic and butter on them. Oysters? Noooo way! My brother went out of his way to make sure I didn't like those so when my oldest suggested we try that I replied with a resounding NO.

I got a pair of pearl and diamond earrings from my in laws and a knitting book from Karl,
Victorian Lace Today. It's a fantastic book if you are interested in this kind of knitting. Love it! When we got home I had a package waiting for me. My good friend Jess sent me a birthday gift and I'm going to have to kick her butt for it too! She got me the first Harry Potter book on CD and even though she lives 20 minutes from me she paid to have UPS deliver it! I can't believe she spent that kind of money and her response? She can. I decided I'm going to make one of the beautiful lace scarves out of my new book for her birthday. I may not have that kind of money but I can spare that kind of time! I've already listened to 4 of the 7 cds too LOL! I'm going to get a little frantic to get the rest now I think. I really, really enjoy listening to it while knitting. It's a fantastic duo. So anyway, that's my birthday for ya. Hope you all have recovered from the holidays! Peace!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
I do hope it was blessed, peaceful and full of family and love. I got my MP3 player, some Shalimar perfume and the new George Strait cd, It Just Comes Naturally (LOVE. THAT. SONG.) and some strange gifts from my in laws which I will spare you from. This was by far the best Christmas we've had in a few years. Peace!

scattered thoughts

My camera won't download the photos off of it so no photos today. I'm going to have to figure out what the kids keep doing to it besides just uplugging the USB plug.

On the yarn front I'm still a happy hooker! I decided to try my hand at another hat in a different style because I have some of that pretty fruit salad yarn left over from the two hats for Holly. (I enjoyed our coffee visit today Holly and I'm really glad you liked the hats.) Of course you will see it when it's done. I am kind of wanting to wrap my hands around some long hard needles and get back to knitting. ROFL, has anyone else noticed how yarn crafts can have such sexual connotation to it? I think I will refrain from elaborating on it and instead let you all think about it yourselves. You know, phallic symbols, textures, stroking, squeezing, that kind of thing? Someone was right when they said "this ain't your grandmas knitting"!

I'm still sick and my voice is still screwed up. Karl says I sound like Marge Simpson. Last time it was Demi Moore so I guess he's not that keen on me at the moment LOL. Marge Simpson... geesh, he's an ass. I wish I had my voice because the kids need to pick this house up something bad... I wonder if the threat of Santa Claus not coming would still hold some power, at least with the younger three. Tonight I take my meds again, my brain is getting a little frantic with thoughts. I'd take them now but they make me dizzy after not taking them for a few days. On second thought, I should take them now since I have to work tonight and the next three days are the worst in the whole entire year. Peace.

We are all set for our annual solstice fire tonight. I usually make gingersnap cookies and homemade hot chocolate but I'm too sick this year so I bought it. We also usually watch Little Bear's Winter Tales but I can't find the tape, I don't think that the VCR is hooked up to the new to us big screen, and I can't locate a copy on DVD... But then the DVD is upstairs and the fireplace down... It's still going to be a great night, pot roast for dinner and yummies afterwards in front of the fire place. Have a bright and warm Yule everyone. Peace.

And no, I'm not slipping any of that paint thinner into the hot cocoa, it's been set there during my mom's move out so no snark.

ooh oooh oooh!

I got a B in Astronomy! A 'B'!!!! That's two B's and two C's.... The B's are beautiful and the C's are crap but passing eh. So work sucked as usual tonight though not nearly as bad as Sunday and I remembered to get all the little boy gifties I've managed to forget the last couple of times I worked. Tomorrow is last chance and now I get to stay up late stuffin' bags. And I want to tap out a little note to that hottie of an astronomy teacher telling him what a great prof he is. He's even 3 years older than me! Now that's a new concept LOL. I wanted to wait until after my grade was posted because I want it to be sincere and not thought of as a way to influence my grade. Boy am I going to miss that voice..... and if I get to be half as good as he is then I'll consider myself a successful teacher. Boy, I'm really happy with that grade, I thought I was going for another C and I'm not sure my ego could handle that.

edit: I've also lost my voice. I've been sick and so stressed the last two weeks that it has now moved into my vocal cords and my chest. No snickering, I got enough teasing at work tonight!

Two more hats

I'm such a happy hooker! That should bring out the weirdo's eh? You know, maybe someone should write a book called Where's the Weirdo? and put it next to Waldo... if they can find him...

Dangling string because this one isn't quite done, I need to do about four more single crochets rows on it but I wanted you all to see the pretty colors, they remind me of fruit salad...and damn it, now I have that song in my head from the Wiggles. Fruit salad, yummy yummy, fruit salad.... ahhh someone get me a Q-tip, I need to stab my brain.

balance

Isn't it strange how a few hours can bring everything back into balance? The judgement thing from yesterday has been explained to me and though it hurt my feelings at the time it's totally justified. My stress is more than half gone now and work tonight was actually fun! We had 5 people... yes FIVE of us in our area. Ok, I don't know how you would react but I almost passed out when I walked in tonight and saw all of us there. We got stuff done and had a good close, the first in a couple of weeks. I also had a wonderful compliment from a guy at work too, he said he would date me in a heartbeat if I was single. This was perfect timing as there is now less than 7 days until my birthday and he's only 24, which I'm not, and well, I'm not.

***
I also got the last of the four hats done and have two more to do. I picked up the prettiest cotton yarn for them (Sugar 'n Cream still) in a colorway that reminds me of fruit salad LOL. Totally a girly color scheme and I even got three rounds (of 13) done of the first one before my lovely daughter crawled up in my lap and fell asleep which nipped yarn play in the bud. Of course, she being so warm and snuggly, put me to sleep as well and we had a nice two hour nap. Mine was interupted by the boys coming home and the phone ringing. I will get photos tomorrow and post of the last hat when my model is awake.

***
Oh, and Suz? My hand is the ONLY thing on my body that could even be remotely compared to Kate Moss LOL.... and that would be her waist!
***
Here's the downer for the day: I got a C in History. I'm telling you, I'm so not used to getting anything but A's and B's. This was a rough semester, I sure hope that the next one goes better.

A record? 3 posts in one day!

This is crochet hat #3. Four has just started it's 3rd round. I am going to take the left overs and make another one because these are just so quick and cute and fun to make! Okay, just wanted to show it off. It's being modeled by my hand because my gorgeous model is asleep in bed where she belongs at 10:20 pm. Peace!

Hey Look!

I got a B in Chem Lab! ROCK ON! I'll let you know as soon as the others are posted. Happy happy joy joy! Crab shit I got a C+ in the lecture part of chemistry, now that sucks.

Bi-Polar day

Have you ever had someone do something that totally busts your bubble about them and it kind of makes you angry at the same time as your feeling disappointment? I try very hard to be nonjudgmental and I'm human and I may sound like I'm judging at times when I'm not. I also try to remember that the other person is human also and may take something I say as that way. Ok, fine, we're all human. But to go and whisper it to another when I'm still standing right there.... well, frankly that pisses me off. Ok, maybe I wasn't being judged but it sounded like it and it felt like it. I really hate when I'm judged and hence the reason why I try to not be. It's a sad thing when this happens so on to happier talk. I got my hair done Saturday back to that nice purplish black cherry color that doesn't last long enough or show up enough in photos LOL. Boy, I'm seeing my age and it's bothering me especially since my birthday is 8 days away.
We decided to play with the camera this morning before school. Max's chin has neosporin on it because I believe he's got impentigo from this latest round of sickness. Thankfully he usually is ok in a couple of days unless we've got the latest and greatest (resistance) bug.
And Grant with his gorgeous eyes and curly blond hair who looks like a little surfer dude but will probably be my goth. He's a neat kid with a good brain.
Then there is Mirand who got bonked in the face by her best friend at school with a block. See the little pink spot under her left eye? She went from being this cute little face to the next photo.
I asked her to model hat #2 and soon hat #3 will be done. There are 4 total, one for each girl in her class.... well, 4 including hers. So 2 1/2 done out of 4. There.
Tired and cranky girl. She did not want to model it...too much photo taking I think. Well I'm off to my next and last final! Astronomy here I come! Then I'm off school until January 8th. Though of course work sucks big fat rotten eggs and my Ho-Ho-Ho spirit has left the building thank you very much! Consumers suck, corporate dimwhits suck and retail sucks. Baaahhhh Humbug! (9pm christmas eve I will be back to loving presents and lights and such again but for now? bah humbug!)

Friday, December 15, 2006

I know you all are crazy wondering right now....

I passed my tests, by how much remains to be seen, but I did pass them. So now I'm in that weird phase of "I'm not going to see most of these people again". Some of them? Thankfully. The others? Damn it. I am going to go plunk my happy ass down and work on another crochet hat for a gift. Peace! Oh, and Suz? Duct Tape works really well.....ROFL J/K! (It was requested by my daughter to do pink type so here ya go sweetie.)

Boy I love these kids!
Especially when they have me take silly photos of them in the air!
My oldest and my youngest LOL.
I don't feel like studying anymore, which is sooooo the wrong thing to do. Okay, enough hoo haaa, back to the damn books.

Just a little note

I just wanted to say that as of today I'm in Finals mode. Today I have my Chem Lab final. Normal class day on Wednesday and Friday I have my History final and the "big one".... Chem Lecture accumlative Final. Then a very slight breather over the weekend and my Final in Astronomy on Monday. Then I'm done for three blissful, knit filled and book reading weeks.... Yeah, yeah, I know, what about the holidays eh? Yes, that will cut into the leisure activities plus trying to pick up a few more hours at work. *sigh* It never ends LOL. Oh, on top of all this? My mom is moving out this week, signs her lease Tuesday afternoon. It's a little bitter sweet, it's been nice having someone here when I'm not yet after 10 months I'm ready for bit of privacy again too. I would bet a 10 on the fact that there are night time activities that she'll be glad to not overhear anymore. On that note, knit one for me and peace!

Thursday, December 07, 2006

Well I guess I lied.

I'm posting again rather quickly. I had to share my latest FO. Remember when I showed you the Jeep and I felt like knitting something camoflauge? Well, I crocheted a skull cap for my daughter out of cotton in a, ummm, urban camoflauge, yeah thats it. I love these colors, there was only one ball of it on the shelf at work, and I seriously wanted to start and finish something since everything I'm working on right now is a long term project. (Socks you ask? What about a sock? Well I'm kind of burnt out on socks and need a break though dbl pt needls are starting to look inviting again.) It also now has a big flower on it I crocheted that I'm not wild about but she likes it so it stays. So, I give you urban camoflauge skullcap FO on the prettiest little girl I know (yes I am biased, I'm aware of that).

Wednesday, December 06, 2006

I just wanted to say I won't be posting much in the next two weeks. Finals are coming up! Can you believe it? The end of my first semester at Eastern Michigan. Boy has it been rough. Anyway, I will try to post but I can't promise a lot. Peace!

Thanks Holly, I LOVE Monty Python and this so fits me LOL. Especially tonight when I got my first complaint from some beeee-ache.

Phone for contrast. This is the progress of the pink King Tut sweater, or the lack there of. And a poopy detail shot for you. Color is still not quite right but the top is closest. And from green marker to white marker is what I got done over Thanksgiving break on Charlottes Easy Shawl. I'm quite happy with that progress. I really should buckle down and get my DH's socks done but I'm kind of burnt on them at the moment.
I'm looking forward to blocking this baby though and it's kind of driving me to finish it. Still, like King Tut, it will be years before it's done I swear. I'm going to go off and see if I can get a damn nap in before work. Knit on!

TGIF and Happy 12/1

I'm ruined. I've not seen that guy with the perfect butt since that one blissful time and now no other ass can compare. *SIGH* I have been looking and waiting and seeing what would have been some damn fine backsides but they just don't compare to "that one". Man, I just read what I wrote and now I sound like a perv LOL. Maybe I am obsessed but it was seriously a thing of beauty. I love your term Beth, it's an onion, hard, round and brought tears to my eyes. Now it brings tears to my eyes because I haven't gotten to see it again. Oh I am so pathetic! Anyway, I'm going to go off and take a couple of photos to share with you all. It's been a bit text heavy with all the whine going around here. I'm exhausted and I'm so glad I can sleep in tomorrow, hate PMS, hate PMS, hate PMS. Does that explain all? lol peace!
