Pleeeeeeeease??? *SIGH* I hate being a poor college student with too many offspring. Silver lining? They will grow up and move away and then there will be plenty of these for me to buy used to whomp the shit out of! Yeah baby. I feel the need to go knit some camoflauge mittens or something....

Dude needs help

I'm too tired tonight to bother typing up my own so I'm going to steal it right off of Suz' blog.
*this is what she wrote*
So, there's this lovely chap out there, somewhere...do i know him?....heck no, but who cares?Anywhoooo, he's trying a little experiment thingy to accumulate some data to use for a talk he's going to do at some big-shindiggy-sort-of-a-thing. Said lovely chap, is trying to gather info on how fast a "MeMe" gets around the blogosphere. So, help a fellow out, won't you? Go to this link, yes, that one there and follow the good man's instructions. It's all in the name of science, afterall.Let the knit blogs be well represented!!
*thanks Suz, I hope you don't mind.*

To help make you holidays happier.....

Rum Balls
4 C Graham Cracker Crumbs
6 T Cocoa
2 C Powdered Sugar (sift if necessary)
2 C finely chopped Pecans
1/4 tsp Salt
1/2 C Rum
1 C light Corn Syrup
Mix all dry ingredients first. Add rum then add enough corn syrup until consistency is correct. Stop when it holds together! It will be uber thick and super
hard to stir!
Roll into 1" balls. Roll in powdered sugar twice. Set aside
in tin for at least 12 hours to ripen.
We don't roll them twice and we line everything with plastic wrap to keep it air tight. I stir it in my kitchen aid mixer and it's still almost too much for it's little motor. But it needs to be on the dry side because when you roll them in your hands it sticks badly. Anyway, we got the outside lights up and made three batches of Rum Balls. The tree should have gone up but we decided it would be better to do it on Tuesday. Rum Balls were obviously more important LOL. The longer you let them sit the better and the nuts are what absorbs the rum. They also taste good made with Grand Mariner (however it's spelled), it's that orange liquor, and tastes kind of like those chocolate orange things. You can also use walnuts but I think they have a stronger taste to them. There are so many variation you can do with these depending on the alcohol. I've always wanted to try Amaretto and almonds. LOL okay, I will try to post a photo tomorrow or Tuesday of the progress I made on my shawl. But I want to work on it right now since vacation isn't officially over until 5:45 am tomorrow. Yo Ho Ho and a bottle of rum.....Pea *hiccup* ce.

I survived!

I actually survived work the last two days and boy oh boy I even kept a good attitude. For those of you who personally know me that does mean a lot of giggles. Attitude is everything sometimes and I totally refused to let dipies and losers get me down! I also just got done with all the reading for my online course and have to do the school visit Thursday morning and some typing of that experience. I started ball #3 of the Rowan Kidsilk Haze for Charlottes Easy Shawl by Lily Chin (info for suz) and am going to go get ready for bed now and work on it some more! DH got the outside lights up today and tomorrow the tree will go up... well, maybe. It might be too nice of a day to spend inside. If so then I'm spending it outside. Peace!

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

This is the knitting item that won the contest to be the one that I worked on this "vacation", modeled by a rather unwilling hubby. I thought his shirt would help show the pattern better....
It didn't LOL. But from the green marker up is what I've done the last two days. That's 3 repeats of a 4 row pattern. It takes a long time to get across the row now that it's getting longer. I'm almost to the end of my second ball of Rowan Kidsilk Haze and have a third one that I was debating on using. I'm going to after looking through Victorian Lace Today. I want a big shawl that I can use like a blanket. I also want that book and told DH that if he REALLY wanted to impress me, to order me some lace weight yarn to go with it LOL. We'll see.
And finally? My diploma for my associates degree with the nice little gold honor's society sticker in it. I really kind of wish my dad was alive so I could shove it in his face but it's ok, it is for me and I'm really damn proud of it! Now it's on to the one that will say Bachelors and then Masters and hey, maybe someday in the future, PhD! I hope that you all had a wonderful turkey day and gorged on wonderful food and company! Peace and Knit on!!!
Hey, check this out too. Way neato peachy keen! Thanks Teyla!

You are the World

Completion, Good Reward.

The World is the final card of the Major Arcana, and as such represents saturnian energies, time, and completion.

The World card pictures a dancer in a Yoni (sometimes made of laurel leaves). The Yoni symbolizes the great Mother, the cervix through which everything is born, and also the doorway to the next life after death. It is indicative of a complete circle. Everything is finally coming together, successfully and at last. You will get that Ph.D. you've been working for years to complete, graduate at long last, marry after a long engagement, or finish that huge project. This card is not for little ends, but for big ones, important ones, ones that come with well earned cheers and acknowledgements. Your hard work, knowledge, wisdom, patience, etc, will absolutely pay-off; you've done everything right.

What Tarot Card are You?

Non-Knitting post part 2

okay, I was checking People's Sexiest Men out tonight and started thinking. Yeah, it's great that we finally get a little eye candy considering all the porn and soft porn mags out there for men, but why don't I see a Sexiest Women issue of People Magazine? Or do they have it and I don't pay attention? Anyway, no sign of the ass today and school is done for a week for Thanksgiving. *sigh* I really would have liked to have had another view. I got an 88 on my last Astronomy exam (yeah and yippy and hot damn, finally a good grade), work didn't suck nearly as bad as last night and tomorrow I think I will decide if there is something I wish to try and finish this week in the knitting area. Of course it's Rum Ball making weekend and holiday decorating weekend and.... LOL anyway, peace!

Sunday

Work totally sucked tonight. First, right off the bat, I folded a table in mens and as I was working this older couple waited near by. As soon as I was done they went to said table and pawed through every pile and didn't even try to leave it looking nice. They tossed the shirts all over it. I was pissed as hell I'll tell ya and I walked over and started folding and said, "thank you, I really don't have anything else better to do tonight than refold these shirts" in a rather snotty and sarcastic tone of voice. They just looked at me and went and bought the two shirts they decided were worthy to leave with them. I'm serious, wouldn't you think that at their age they'd know better than to be a couple of shits? Oh boy was I hot! Then the damn jewlery bell rang so I (being on the opposite side of the store from it) walked over in time to see my manager helping them. She turns and starts in on me about something from the night before. HOLY SHEEP SHIT! We got into it for a few seconds and I stormed away. She later appologized and I would have said thank you for appologizing except it will just happen again because this isn't the first time she was like this. It was just the first time she was with me. So, thankfully tomorrow I have school, I work, then I have almost a week off of school with no pressing projects to do and I plan on knitting a crap load between Thanksgiving stuff and work. That being said, it might actually be safe to hold your breath for knitting content... well, then again, maybe not LOL. Night!

Non-Knitting post

If you want knitting content go somewhere else. Now. I'm not talking knitting tonight, I'm talking about an ass. An ass so perfect, so, well... lets not get ahead of ourselves here. This is a story to savor (for me). Alright, let's slip a little slightly knitting thing in here right now.

I want you to close you eyes and picture this... well, after you read this, then picture this because if you close you eyes now then well, you'll see the insides of your eyelids and not what I'm babbling about. Picture youself in a yarn shop and you see the most beautiful yarn you've ever seen and you reach out with both hands and slightly squeeze and stroke it... Like the "don't squeeze the Charmin" commercial right? Ok, keep that in mind.

Sometimes something will come out of the blue and remind me that I'm human, a human female, and one that has an artistic bent to her. One of those moments came and slapped me Monday. I was walking up the hill after class on Monday and these two guys walked past me. I have an hour, I'm never in a hurry. Well, holy flying spaghetti monster the guy on the right had the most perfect ass I have ever seen. Not only was it perfect, but he had the perfect legs and was wearing his jeans up where they're suposed to be. His ass was a work of art I tell you! I could not, and I'm not joking, stop staring at this ass. I wanted to go up and squeeze it like yarn in a yarn shop. I followed him as long as I could and I never saw his face. He could be the bug ugliest guy that was ever created but that backside? It was amazing.

I went home and told my hubby that in 21 years I've never wanted to go up and squeeze a mans ass besides his until today and he asked me why I didn't go up and do just that. Ok, as if feeling like a perv. wasn't enough.... having my hubby ask me that was a bit much. I decided it was a good time to point out that I wasn't so old yet that I could get away with it. But it sure has given me the idea that when I get in my 70's I'm going to put a empty pint of some liquor in my purse and go around pretending to drink while pinching young guys butts. I'll just be that "drunk old lady". Unfortunately I didn't see him Wednesday or today and I regret not having a camera phone because I'd have SOOOO taken a photo of it. Anyway, I've been gleefully reminded that I'm still a woman who can appreciate a nice ass. Maybe someday soon I will have knitting news. Peace!

School News

I registered for classes for next semester. I get to take MORE chemistry (TSP Meg? I got an override and now am in the next, much more math heavy Chemistry class so I hope that you will be able to tutor me some more next semester!), the first part of the world history I'm taking now (backwards, typical for me), a physical education lecture class for educators (hummm), and an EARTH SCIENCE class! Yes, yes, yes, YES! It's like a historical geology class from what I can tell after reading the tiny blurb about it. But hell, I do. not. care., it's an earth science class with rocks and plate tectonics and, and, and, I'm bouncing in my seat I'm so excited! So that's whats up for me. The only sad part is I have to go down for Chem Lab on a Tuesday so it's the same schedule I have now plus an extra day. FOUR DAY! Can someone find me a sponsor for my gas costs? LOL Peace knitsters!

Congratulations Gracie and welcome C.C., it's a fine, fine, fine day to be born!!!!!!!

Hi, remember me?

Here's the cake. I found the candy sea stuff at work and was rather excited! It really turned out pretty good I think and #2 loved it and that is what matters the most to me. He's such a cool kid.
How can you not think a kid who got excited about this shirt isn't the coolest? I wish this shirt came in MY size because I'd so wear it! It rocks! It has royal blue arms and hood and really makes his eyes look gorgeous.
Then I thought I'd follow up the skull photo with a photo of our devil cat that has been renamed Alberto but I've been calling him Moose from Alberta. More like Mooooooose LOL. Notice the way he lays on the back of this chair? His mother does the same damn thing too and I thought it was so weird. Which should be expected from a cat of mine, until my mother pointed out that that is the way that wild cats sit in trees. Well, duh! Now I feel weird AND stupid LOL.
And the summer sock party sock that seems to be in trouble at this point. I knit WAY tighter than Megan and the sock is a different width and I'm not sure what to do. I've already knit so much of it and I'm wondering if it would bother me all that much if they're different. Length is the same though. I'm stuck, what do you all think? Should I continue or should I rip and go to a larger needle size? It almost hurts to think about doing that too LOL.
well, anyway, remember me? I'm still around. Hey, I got an 87% on my last Chemistry test!!! I did! I'm so geeked I can hardly stand myself LOL. After a 61 and 58 respectively this is a major improvement! I also am making progress on my pink King Tut sweater, it still looks the same though. Well, have a happy weekend and knit on knitsters!

I've been accused of hiding!

As I sit here sore from work, PMS satisfied with some kettle cooked heart attack in a bag potato chips, and buzzed from one (yes ONE, I know there are a couple of you that would be really surprised by this) glass of wine I felt a need to defend myself! This weekend was packed full of really fun stuff! Lets start with Friday shall we? It was "let's pretend to clean the house up until mom is hoarse from yelling at us" day. But we did eventually get the upstairs clean but not without me losing my voice.

Friday my oldest did something that I laughed so hard at, but shouldn't have. It was a low point of my motherhood, but boy was it a good one for #1! I was in the middle of yelling at him to grab two more books on the table to take down with the ONE in his hand. He didn't stop so my mom yelled at him in such a way that brought up some terrible backflash for me. I then preceeded to tell him I was trying to keep him from going downstairs again but it didn't help. He was pissed as hell (rightfully so in my eyes) and on the verge of tears. Earlier in the day my mom made a smart ass comment about how she's allergic to the Axe that my dear son loves to put on. (hello, he's 11 and wants to smell good... lets not stop this)

Ok, well, he goes downstairs and comes back up and as he walks by my mom he sprays the Axe three long sprays. I was so shocked and my mom screamed his name. About 10 minutes later I was folding some clothes and my shock wore off and I busted out laughing, and I laughed, and I laughed, and I laughed some more. I told my mom WHY I was laughing too! It was such a teenager thing to do and something I would have done if I were him and it just tickled me! I'm still grinning like an idiot thinking about it. Anyway, rebellion of the oldest starts now.

Saturday was my middle boys 9th birthday. I made a cake that I haven't loaded photos of yet and I will post them when I do. He wanted a sea themed cake and I think I did pretty good. It was just us and my in laws. Sunday he had his best friend over and played for almost 5 hours. During all this? I read, and read, and read some more. I did chemistry homework (Lewis Theory structures Meg, if you want to know. I TOTALLY love them too!) I did my astronomy homework and got caught up on my history reading. I felt great today knowing that I was finally caught up!

Tomorrow I have to study for my chemistry exam on Wednesday and read some more history. I also have an astronomy test next Monday I should start preparing for also. Anyway, just wanted to let you know that I'm not hiding LOL, I've just been rather busy with school crap.

Oh, and I've been on antibiotics since Tuesday, I'm coughing now, which means the crap that was in my lungs is breaking up and I've been on an oxygen high for the last four days. I've had xrays of my lungs which came back good and one set of blood tests came back normal as well. Now I just have to wait for the other blood test to come back which, I'm afraid, will tell me I've got really high cholesterol. So more on that later.

Knitting? ROFL, you think I've been knitting? Well, actually I have. I put a 4 row repeat on my cobweb shawl this weekend and maybe 1/2 inch on my King Tut pink sweater. That's it, but it's something eh? Peace! Knit on.

Thursday, November 02, 2006

Well it worked this time.

Ready and roarin' to go, #3 felt really goulish, except that grin kind of ruined it eh?
My almost teenager who decided to throw on the robe I made a couple of years ago FIVE, I repeat 5 minutes before we left. And brought his usual bad attitude along for the ride.
#2 was a scream! LOL, ok, bad pun but he wore the costume rather well. Perhaps a bit too well.
Then there was #4 who decided to be a kitty cat. As we were walking down to the before trick or treating party that the sub holds I realized that all four of my kids were dressed in some sort of black or dark color. Including the two of us, who also were wearing black, I bet we made a fine sight. There goes "that" family again, nuts don't fall far from the tree, and probably even, that must have been the last load washed LOL. I felt crappy and went and sat at home leaving the bowl of candy on the porch. I missed all the kids but I don't regret getting so much sleep. I feel absolutely wonderful! Yeah!

Watch out, I'm feeling good!

But blogger isn't. I tried to post photos of Halloween but it's not working and to top it off? It's snowing! Like really, really snowing! (it mighty pretty though) Oh well. I'll try again later tonight, I think I'm going to go nap a bit. But I am feeling MUCH better, so much better in fact that I'm wondering how I didn't know I felt so poorly....
