Happy Birthday Teyla!

Fantastic Fall Sunday!

We decided to go for a walk in the park that is in the center of our sub... I guess it's kind of our Central Park eh? ROFL. I tried to get some portrait shots of the kids and got a few except for DS #3. He refused to cooperate so I'm going to have to try again some other time. I didn't want to pay the price of the school portraits so plan on getting some with my digital and ordering them from Kodak. I also wanted to try and get a group shot of the four for holiday cards but alas, see note above about DS #3.
I haven't had time to do much knitting, I'm still working on my report and basically just keeping the house barely together while I do so. It's really about the only thing I dislike about being a student. I love school, I love a clean house, and I love to knit but trying to do them all is tough when I work 25 hours a week on top of it. *sniff sniff* Do you hear the violin in the background? Geesh, such a pity party eh? I think I'm going to go take a quick nap before work. Hope to have knitting progress later this week.

toes and socks

Well First I had to start with Mirandas toes. She's quite proud of her purple nails.
This time she finally waited until they were dry, usually we have at least one totally smudged one. It's funny how I never paint my fingers so she never asks for hers to be painted. Just another thing to illustrate how they learn by copying. Such cute little piggies LOL.

And here's a photo of the progress on the sock. Seems I'm much slower at knitting socks when I only work on them at school. But if I can't get the second one done by Christmas then I have a birthday or two in January that I will have them done by so all is good. I will need a second ball of yarn, which rots since they're $7 US. $14...something seems really wrong about that. LOL Hey, did you happen to see that I'm now part of the Fluffy Knitters Ring? Yep, fluffy, that's me! Now if only someone would come out with some flattering plus size knitting patterns I'd be, well, knitting until my fingers locked up. *grin*

I've also got my next semester all planned out now too. Three more classes and I graduate in May... from Washtenaw Community College LOL, still have a few years to go at Eastern Michigan. Two days a week I have two-three hour gaps in between classes which means what kiddos? More socks. Yep you're correct. I have one class that is M-W-F in the morning and M-W my other two classes and none of them a geology class which bums me out, but what can I do? The three classes are 12 credits and the last three.

I brought the pumpkins in an hour ago, I'm hoping they will be warm so we can clean them tonight, carve them tomorrow and get them back outside. I have tonight off to go to my kids fall festival at their school, which is a ton of fun let me tell you. I look forward to it just as much as the kids do. So for now I'm off to work on my report some more. Have a great Friday!

Sometimes I just love these stupid quizes.

You Belong in 1965

If you scored...

1950 - 1959: You're fun loving, romantic, and more than a little innocent. See you at the drive in!

1960 - 1969: You are a free spirit with a huge heart. Love, peace, and happiness rule - oh, and drugs too.

1970 - 1979: Bold and brash, you take life by the horns. Whether you're partying or protesting, you give it your all!

1980 - 1989: Wild, over the top, and just a little bit cheesy. You're colorful at night - and successful during the day.

1990 - 1999: With you anything goes! You're grunge one day, ghetto fabulous the next. It's all good!

No knitting AGAIN, but a knitting question.

How DO you block something? I want details, I need to know every single step you do. I'm getting so sick of blocking something and having it still curl on the edges so I'm starting to think that I'm doing something wrong. Help?

Hey, I also wanted to toot my own horn here. It seems that by starting the psycho drugs and uping my protein and reducing my carbs that I've lost approximately 20 pounds in six weeks? How cool is that? Of course that leaves 90 more to go if I were to go to where I'm "suposed" to, but I'm not going there. Another 42 pounds would be just fine. I'd be fluffy but not fat and where I was when I graduated high school. I'm all for that. Anyway, toot toot! LOL

Knitting photos, don't faint!

First up is my oldest son's sweater, my black hole of knitting. I never thought I'd make it to the red stripe, then flew through the red to now be stuck in the black hole again. I'm now starting to think that it is the black that is doing it and there is still the front and two sleeves to do and I'm not quite done with the back... Oh help me please! Posted by Picasa

Second up is the baby sweater and hat. Yes you've seen it before, yes you've ooh and ahh'd already, yes it's old news. BUT! It now has two snaps sewn in so that makes it different and worthy of a new photo even if you can not actually SEE them. And the mother will receive these tomorrow at her shower. Posted by Picasa

This was so much fun I had to do it again.

KAT WANTS:
Kat wants to get children excited about (earth) science. (The first one! How freaky is that?)
Kat wants a new home. (Not really, just what I have but better.)
Kat wants to study astronomy at Yale. (Astronomy? Yes. Yale? No. Maybe to find the Bunny Planet???)
Kat wants us to pressure people. (Into doing what? LOL *wink wink*)

LOL that is so much fun to do. I love google.

Yes, today is our anniversary and I forgot.

Karl called from work around 12:30 because he had just looked at the calendar and remembered. What a switch...the woman forgot the anniversary instead of the man. ROFL

I have to work tonight so I get to see my DH for all of about 20 minutes. It's 14 years today, next year we'll do something special for the 15th one. Thanks for the Happy Anniversaries!

Stolen, with no shame.

I’m stealing this from Suz (scatteredgemini) who stole it from someone else LOL. Here’s how it works: You go to Google, type in your name with “needs”, and see what comes up.

Here’s what I got for: Kat Needs and Katherine Needs.

Kat needs a drummer on Saturday night. (is it a party?)
Kat needs a break on a trademark registration. (maybe I'm going to be a designer?)
Kat needs to be Kat and in a bad mood. (aren't I always LOL)
Kat needs money to feed her heinous addiction to Gummy Worms. (I do need $... Gummy Worms? wtf?)
Kat needs your help finding homes. (rofl, I'm not going anyway, don't get your hopes up)
Kat needs advice. (should be I GIVE advice)
Kat needs all the support she could get. (don't we all?)
Kat needs to escape her nightmares. (yes I do)

Katherine needs your help (to escape my nightmares?)
Katherine will need a fulltime Para educator. (yes, when I teach they will be helpful)
Katherine might need some help here. (see above)
Katherine needs many things to grow. (like her kids? LOL)
Katherine needs chemotherapy. (lets hope I NEVER need this)
Katherine needs a visit to the Bunny Planet. (now this is what i'm talking about!)
Katherine needs to make flyers. (to find a ride to the Bunny Planet?)
Katherine needs your help more than ever. (see above^ lol)

Yeah, that was fun, thanks Suz!

A Pumpkin Patch and my little "punk"-ins. I also got some knitting done on my oldests sweater which is becoming a black hole. It seems no matter HOW much I knit on it it doesn't get any longer...and this is just the back! I still have the front and sleeves to do too! I'd take a photo of that but, well, it's just black... LOL. Posted by Picasa

A geeky blonde probably LOL. One for how I was without DH at school (geek) and how I was with DH at school. Too funny.

It's still dark out!!! LOL

Why is it one night I need 9 hours of sleep and then take a nap the next afternoon and the following night I get less than 6 hours and can't sleep past when my DH's alarm goes off at 5 am? I'm so going to pay for this later today when my third class rolls around at 6 pm. I wonder if I have any interesting photos to entertain your eyes with since I obviously don't have any other news to post about. I'm procrastinating taking my shower and have 25 minutes until I wake the kids up.
Ok, cute kitty face will do. Albert wasn't too happy about being held for this photo. He's had his cast off for 2 weeks now and is doing really well. There is one toe that's not healing well but he goes back today and I'm sure the vet will check it out. Crazy cat that one. You walk by a place he's hiding and he'll jump out and claw your leg. It hurts but its funny too. Love my kitty. Have a fantastic day!

Dreary Days

I have found that I'm very affected by the darkening days and the doctor told me to double my prozac and today I actually am functional. Imagine that. I just started taking the prozac so it's actually now half the dose I should have for my weight so don't go thinking I'm going off the deep end k? Though I think if I weren't on it I'd feel like I was. I got up today and watched King Arthur for like the fifth time before it has to go back to the video store. I love that movie and asked for it for Xmas. I then zonked out at noon and slept until 1:30, this after getting 9 hours last night. But I feel so much better for it that I cleaned one full bath and the half bath and swept and vacuumed. I'll leave the kitchen for DH to do. I also skimmed the three chapters I needed to read for Government class tomorrow and now I have to make dinner and take a shower for work. If I hurry I just may be able to get a little bit of knitting done! Imagine that! And tomorrow? I won't forget my sock again like last Thursday (it's in my backpack already) which made my 3 hour break in between my second and third classes unbelievably long and torturous. I was actually forced to read my government book and I'd rather clean a toilet with my bare hands than do that. Yes, I find it that bad. So that is what has been up for the last day or so. OH! Trading Spaces from TLC was at work this morning (Brighton Meijers) because someone won a contest and they bought their stuff there. Cool eh? I'm SO glad I didn't have to work last night LOL. Can you imagine? I bet they were frantic trying to get the store perfect. I'm looking forward to hearing about it though. If there is anything interesting I'll pass on the gossip.

Oh I would SOOO do this if I could!

Your Hair Should Be Blue
Wild, brilliant, and out of control. You're a risk taker with an eye to the future.

Mom's knitting and Miranda's hair cut.

This is my mom's blanket she made from The Shop on Blossom Street, by Debbie Macomber. It turned out beautiful though these images do NOT show the real color. It's a sage green. It really looks very good and she yarn overs backwards on her purls so it made this realy cool texture. Great job mom, it's awesome!

Now for my lovely daughter who sees her mom cut her bangs over the trash and her dad trim his beard over the trash decided to cut HER hair over the trash. So this is the before and after photos. Smiling is after. She's cute no matter what, but what a shock to me when she walked into the room after telling me she was cutting only paper. LOL Love that girl. Off to work now. Bye!

This is the beautiful Meg proudly displaying her birthday gift. It was a blast to make and even MORE fun to keep hidden from her and teasing her with it for almost 6 weeks. LOL I am evil aren't I? Posted by PicasaI used Plymouth Encore yarn and it's the "DNA scarf". Perfect because not only is Meg beautiful but she's also extremely smart! She's PhD'ing it in genetics, yep, she is. Geek! (takes one to know one... pot calling the kettle black... blah blah blah, we're both geeks in our own field lol, this I know.) Tomorrow a post and maybe a photo or two of what we did for Meg's birthday that involved beautiful scenery, two canoes, and wet clothes. What a riot, but right now I need to sleep. Nighters!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MEG!

It's officially her birthday and today I give her the long awaited and anticipated birthday gift! So look for a photo of "Meg's Top Secret Birthday Gift" later tonight peeps, it's a beauty!

It's an UFO!

Well, I guess I'm always a UFO, in a good way. LOL Here I am with wet hair that's too long to get in the photo. I think I may be due for a hair chop, my last hair cut was back in January...I cut my own bangs. I had to watch out for the Aliens, they were quite attracted to my Charlotte's Easy Shawl which I got 6 more rows done today. That's 1 1/2 repeats if you want to know. The Alien showed up right when I was focusing the camera and jumped all over it. It was kind of funny...maybe gravity works different for them than it does us?
Of course the Alien was helped out by little hands. So I of course had to take a photo of the little being who guided them here. She thought it was so funny and laughed and laughed, it's a wonder she was able to move the Alien. I'm going to add one more photo just to mess this post up, of the sock that is in progress. Hopefully it and its mate will be ready for gifting this holiday season. So there's some knitting news AND a bunch of photos for your viewing pleasure. Have a great Friday!

No knitting to report...yet again.

I did get my two essays that are due tomorrow done, with a huge sigh of relief I'll tell you. I hate waiting to the last minute like this but I also had such a hard time "getting" into them. So now I'm back to having a large amount of reading to do but I do think I will get some work done on a sock tomorrow. I'll leave you with a photo of the Upper Tahquamenon falls. Maybe the beauty of that will help the fact that I've not knitted in a few days slip your mind! I really miss my knitting so knit a few rows while thinking of me K? Maybe I'll catch your 'vibe'. Knit on!

Today is the anniversary of our first date.... TWENTY years ago. I think we both realized that around the same time while in two different towns, I was driving home from my morning class and he is at work. Funny how we're on the same brain wave still. He's awesome, still makes my toes curl, and puts up with a lot of shit from me. Why in the world would I ever let him go? LOL So anyway, Happy Anniversary Punk, I love ya! (October 19th will be our 14th wedding anniversary, if you're wondering. LOL)
