Photos for You.

Wow, ok, these did not load up the way they were suposed to but anyway, here's Alberts first look at the tree, the couple of inches I've gotten done on my MIL's socks, and a photo of Albert to show how much the kitty has grown. He's a teenager now. LOL
So I didnt' have enough yarn to finish that other sock and I'm not sure I want to buy more and well, the Knit Picks yarn is a tad bit finer so I'm not sure I want to put a funky toe on it. I may just have to go buy another ball. I have two and a half weeks left of school and then I can have a knitting marathon over the holiday
break! Isn't that groovy? It almost makes me giddy! So soon my dear friends, I will have a short burst of knitting blogliness.

Seeing double!

Looky, there be sock knitting going on here! Ahhhh, can you feel my joy and happiness? Now the big problem is seeing how close I can get to the toe before I run out of yarn and have to make it an odd looking pair by using some other yarn to finish. Yes, it would be better to buy another ball so it's all the same but, ummm, I don't want to have almost a full ball left over to figure out what to do with later.... Sock On!

Happy Thanksgiving!!!!
May it be warm and full.

gobble gobble

Thank you everyone, I was very scared.

(The view out our backdoor and a bit of the zoom feature.)

I slept SO well last night (12 hours to boot!) and I feel unbelievable today. I guess I didn't know I was quite so stressed out. So today I made a pot of coffee (the first in a week) and I have been bleaching the kitchen down and cleaning the dinning room in phases with breaks for lunch and sock knitting! Yes you read correctly! lol See.... Oh and do you see what Mother Nature is handing us today? I do love snow, it's the cold that comes with it. So here are a few more photos for my photo deprived blog. I'm about to go finish the kitchen and turn my heel. LOL That sounds silly doesn't it? Almost like I'm going dancing or planning on hurting myself. If you are in this lovely snow storm, please be careful out there. TTFN.

This is going to be extremely personal so.....

if you don't like that stuff, hit the back button right now. You have been warned! I had my doctor's appointment for some unexplained bleeding I was having. Of course I, being the hypochondriac that I am, was totally thinking uterine cancer right? Right. Well it seems I had an excessively large cervical polyp that she removed. Let's just hope that the test results come back normal on that bad boy. They're common and they cause lots of bleeding and cramps. What amazed me is just how stressed I was over this. My blood pressure was 130/90 when it's normally 117/70 and I threw up. I mean, I TRIED to knit on my sock while I was there but first I pulled the wrong needle out and had to pick up 18 stitches or so and then I just couldn't even concentrate on it.... It's just knits, no purls, and I couldn't even do it. I made it around once. So now that I'm feeling relieved and a tad tired from the emotional drain I'm going to go knit on my sons black hole sweater front. Hope you are having as good a day as I am having, well, as I am having now. LOL

No knitting....again.

I'm starting to wonder if this is a knitting blog anymore.... I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow and I am a tad nervous about it so I have my sock in progress in my purse ready to go. But what I wanted to mention is that our new National Geographic came today and there is a one page mini article about knitting in it. I laughed and woo hooo'd, DH thinks I am insane, which he is right, I am but I don't like it said out loud lol. I don't know the page off hand, I'll post that later, right now I have got to get my butt off to bed. So if you are a reader of the N.G. look for it. Am I really insane for being so proud of a photo of a basket of yarn and two small paragraphs about knitting because I knit??? Insane or not, I am proud. LOL

Sorry about the late post.

I had to rush home after the movie and dinner to make it to work on time. Of course there HAD to be a UofM football game that caused all kinds of traffic. So, no photos again. BUT, the movie. It was really good. The two words that come to mind first if I were to try and put it simply is powerful and disturbing. Not powerfully disturbing though LOL, though I believe the PG-13 rating was right on the mark because I'm wondering if I'm going to let my kids see it. DS #1 is 10, he could see it but I'm worried about how DS #2 (who's 8) and DS #3 (who's 6) would do. They might just get nightmares because the special effects are unbelievable! Oh just so good, and the acting has come so far, and even though huge parts of the book were missing it was funny, scary and sad. It still reminded me of Edgar Allen Poe like the third one, which I totally love, but know some don't. Oh pooh, if you like Harry Potter this is a serious MUST SEE. The Weasley twins are still my favorite, they even mention knitting (!) and Ron's sweater has a sewn on R instead of one knit in. I can't wait to get it on DVD so I can watch it frame by frame. Ron even has a great knit blanket on his bed too! Go see it!

Brief:

I was extremely tired today, like exhausted, and I tried to get some geology read and I kept falling asleep. (Doctor's appointment Tuesday to see what's up, for the curious who don't mind TMI lol.) So no photos of anything, even boring stuff. I do have good news though! We have plans to go see the new Harry Potter tomorrow around 12:30. If our best friends can't get a babysitter then we'll see the following weekend but I don't think they will have much problem. I can not wait! I'd have seen it today if I could have figured out a way to pull it off LOL. It's going to be such a drag to have to wait for movies to come out after she gets the final book done. Of course I can go get the newest Robert Jordan Wheel of Time book to read soon. Book 11...too bad Harry can't go on that long. Well, I'm off to shower and get dressed for work. I'll let you know how I liked the movie tomorrow.

A week of vacation....from school LOL!

I turned in the reaction paper tonight and now for the next few days I'm going to be working on a 25 book annotated bibliography on top of working for money. So today I got an inch done on the second sock and three rows on my son's sweater. Three rows... lots of knitting to only go up less than a centimeter. Seriously a black hole is it not? Tomorrow I will see about a very unexciting photo of them, so I'll see you tomorrow, after some sleep *grin*.

I have a report to do by Thursday.

It's a damn reaction paper for my government class. Getting a reaction to the article I chose from the list isn't the problem. It's finding the support that is adequate to sqeeze two pages out of it. I hate government though I understand it's need/use. So, unless I get this thing whipped up tomorrow morning (not likely), I'm not doing any knitting until Thursday at school again. I want to cry when I read that LOL. The kids are off of school again tomorrow and I have two parent teacher conferences to go to, I had one today. I hate those too! All I want to hear is how brilliant my kids are and it's so discouraging to hear that no one else thinks that about them like I do! What is wrong with you people? HUH? ROFL just kidding! They're cool kids and I love them, that's all that matters. *grin* Send me good report vibes, I need them.

By the way, if you haven't pinned yourself to my map would you go and squeeze yourself in? Geesh already! It's down on the right hand side there! (lol)

Thank you Meg from Inch by Inch!

This is the darkside of Knitty and it's very goth! Oh I have peeps in my life that this site will be useful for! Check out The AntiCraft I think it's way cool. I really like the arm warmers that has a design that goes from a snowflake to a skull and think it would look neat on the arms of a sweater for one of my little offspring dudes. Yep, son #2 has a thing for bones, maybe he'll be a bone doctor? LOL Anyway, my mouse has been acting up and I've been super busy so maybe you will all over look my lack of, well, all things. *grin*

This is too funny, what a way to end the night.

My pirate name is:
Dirty Charity Flint
You're the pirate everyone else wants to throw in the ocean -- not to get rid of you, you understand; just to get rid of the smell. Like the rock flint, you're hard and sharp. But, also like flint, you're easily chipped, and sparky. Arr!
Get your own pirate name from fidius.org.

Ok, that wasn't formatting correctly, here's what it says:

LOL, not me, but fun anyway.

I can be such a dunce!

OK, it's the back to the sweater FOR my firtborn and I was looking at the yarn in bad light at night, I KNEW I should have trusted my camera, the one I'm so in love with that if it were to turn human I'd leave my DH for it (just kidding). The yarn is the accurate color in the photo, at least on my monitor. It's not brown, it is purple LOL. I got an inch done on the second brown and blue sock and that's about it. Maybe another inch tomorrow. *grin*

Knitting News!

Here is the finished back to my wonderful firstborn. Heaven knows how long it will take me to do the front and sleeves but I did get one inch done at school today *grin*. Posted by Picasa

Oh glorious brown box, how do I love thee?

TA-DA! Here are my next 8 pairs of socks! And the purplish one in the upper left corner? That's actually brown and the one underneath that looks blue? That's gray. And the one next to it to the right? All three are great colors for men! Yeah baby. Such beauty isn't it? Yep, I knew you'd agree. Posted by Picasa

Back Done.

I got the back done on my son's sweater last night and cast on and did two rows of the front (10 bazillion more rows to go). I hope the damn thing will still fit him when I'm done. Though when I mentioned that last night he seemed ok with the fact that it may have to go to son #2 and I'd have to make him another one this summer. LOL He's such a good kid. So I'll spare you a photo of the black hole of black yarn knitting... Ok, famous last words. You know I will probably post a photo tonight or Friday *grin*.

Look what I ordered!

I got the new Knit Picks catalog a few days ago and HAD to get THIS . It just can not come soon enough! Now I have to do like Kirsti and learn the two socks on two needles way so I can whip these babies out faster! Oh I'm really looking forward to this stash enhancement!

A hat for me, made by my mom. Posted by PicasaI have a poncho made from this yarn, it's Lion Brand Jiffy Thick 'n Quick. Mom made one for her and I loved it so much I asked her to make me one and she finished it today. Pretty cool eh?

A finished sock! Posted by PicasaNow I can concentrate on getting the second one done and plan on more and more and more socks! I really like making socks, who'd have guessed? They fit my DH really well so I may give them to him for Christmas and not my FIL but then I may give them to my FIL anyway. Ahhh too many socks, not enough time.

Happy Birthday Grant! Posted by PicasaThis is my second son who just turned 8. He's the neatest kid. I know, every mom says that about their kid and says it about all their children but it doesn't make it less true. I gave him a book on Van Gogh because the kid can paint in a fashion very similar, especially flowers. He's got a talent that I hope I can get him to cultivate it. He can be the most lovey kid, as long as it's on his terms, and has such a tender side. A side I wish I saw a bit more than I do. He's Miranda's buddy, the one she likes to play with the most. Anyway, I love this kid and I'm very proud of who is and look forward to the man he will become.

These are the four great copper pieces I found. They are all a little bigger than a quarter in diameter. I'd like to get the rest of the rock off of them but then I kind of like it the way it is too.  Posted by Picasa

This is my map w/ my rocks I collected glued to it. It shows where each one came from and what era.  Posted by Picasa

Well, I've been super busy trying to get my big report done for geology. I'm down to just typing up the geological time chart and then it is done! DONE! I do have some more typing to do for labs but it won't be hard, just copy questions out of the lab manual. It's the little push of midterm right now and then I will have a couple of weeks of "normal" until the big push of the semesters end. I keep dreaming of all the stuff I want to knit, like how I wish I could join in the Weasley Along for the new Harry Potter movie release. I'd make myself a sweater in a heart beat if I had the time and a pattern large enough, though I'm sure I could find a nice mens pattern and smudge up the shaping a bit. Oh and socks. Yes socks are still calling my name. I also have a couple of discontinued balls of yarn from Lion Brand that I'd like to make a scarf out of to match my pink fishermans hat. My son's sweater is still calling me as well as both my shawls.... And I now have an idea for a sweater for my 2nd son. I just don't have enough time and it's frustrating. If I stop procrastinating by posting here and get my typing done I may be able to squeeze in some knitting before I go to work. Wish me luck *grin*.

Update: I got my report done! It's done, it's done, it's done done done done! I even typed up two labs worth of questions (would have done more but I'm almost out of paper) and I have one of two essay questions answered for my midterm in Multicultural Literature for Children tomorrow. They are very short answer, two paragraphs each, but I'm doing them now so I can "think" about them and not try and do it on the fly tomorrow. Of course, doing them at home means they have to be higher quality but I'm ok with that because I am high quality LOL. I'm trying to get motivated to take a shower and I'm still in my PJ's at 1:35 in the afternoon. When I work I don't feel like showering until right before I go because the thought of having to change my clothes irritates me. I know, how pathetic is that? Like I can't wear the same clothes tomorrow again. TMI. I'm going to go finish my second question so I can go knit some. Hey? Did I happen to mention my report is DONE???? lol
