LOL birthday boy does it again!

My most wonderful birthday boy (10 today) did it again, he got a good photo of me with my new haircut. I look a little pale but hey, s'all right with me LOL. Birthday has gone pretty well, sitting here with my ice cream and cake (ick at this point) and trying to do homework/reports with everyone here and Transformers on the TV. Grrrr, not productive. I need to go lock myself in my bedroom maybe. Anyway, I now have two kids in the double digits. *sigh* Hope you've had a great weekend and I'll have photos of the baby sweater I'm working on later this week. My brother and his wife are expecting baby #4 at the beginning of December, a second boy. Peace.

Bittersweet

and I ain't talkin' chocolate, though I could use about 5 pounds of it right now. Today I have experienced the extremes of my personality and it wasn't fun.

The day started off with me screaming at the kids a lot because they weren't picking up and putting away their stuff and we were running out of time. Then I FINALLY get a shower and grandparents show up while I'm trying to paint my face. They all make a comment, seperately, as they came in about how nice the house looked, and not to me, they didn't know I could hear them. That made all the hard work worth while so I felt relief.

Everyone comes, eats yummy sloppy joes in shifts and we do the cakes, which the birthday kids frosted all by themselves,

ice cream and gifts. (Blue Moon ice cream teeth LOL)
Right before I go to work early to get this photo printed up I decided to check my email. My most favorite teacher I have ever had, Mr. David Thomas from WCC, emailed me to tell me he's retiring September 1st. Ok, now I'm down right sad as hell. I consider him my mentor. He always made me feel inspired and capable. I am so truly blessed to have had him as a teacher, there is no doubt about it. It's because of him and his class that I decided to teach earth science. It was an experience in his class that made me realize that I don't want to teach elementary, but older kids. *sigh* now I'm totally bummed again.
Then I go to work and feel total embarrassment about the photo. Do not ask why, I just did. I went on break and there was no one in the break room and all of a sudden I started crying. Finally I cry, but why did it have to be at work? Why did it have to happen tonight when I've had other opportunities that were better? PMS of course and I'm glad that something is finally coming to the surface that I've not disassociated from but work is a rough place to break down.
I'm now going to go wash my face and get dressed for bed, then I'm going to come back out here and drink some more wine and listen to my MP3 player. Maybe I will be able to cry again beacause my soul needs to be cleansed more. Night Peeps.

I'm going to "celebrate" it by telling you a joke I read in a Reader's Digest last night. Karl took it to work so I'm going to do the best I can to remember it.

A mom finally breaks down and buys a hamster for her kids they had been begging for, and soon, as she predicted she's feeding it, cleaning the cage, basically taking care of all it's needs. So one night at dinner she asked her kids why, if they weren't going to take care of the animal, did they want it? How many time would it have died if she hadn't been feeding it?

Her son looks up at her and says, "probably only once".

I love it! I hope I get students like that when I'm teaching. Anyway, made some progress on Jess' TSP and did an inch on the sockapalooza sock yesterday at school. No photos yet and I'm probably not going to get any because we're having a duel birthday party for the two youngest tomorrow and the house needs some serious attention. Though we made some progress on THAT also last night. I also did a lot of laundry the last two days.... humm... what? Am I channeling Martha Stewart or something? ROFL ewwwww *shiver* There's a scary thought.

Today I'm meeting Jess at Archies Coney Island across the highway here for lunch and then cleaning the house. Sounds like so much fun eh? THEN, oh the highlight of my whole freakin' day! Work.

Crap, I have to make a cake too..... and buy plates.... and, and, and.. someone poke me in the eye so I can spend the weekend in the hospital... ROFL peace.

Quick update before running off to class.

This is Christopher and what I got done last night and this morning. He's really shaping up nicely eh? Oh how I've giggled! I just love these shrunken head bags so much!!! I hope I can get him done today because I have an itchy idea that I'm going to be spending a tremendous amount of time reading a really huge, uncomfy in the lap, biology book. Have a great day and, ummm, keep your head.... LOL that was bad I know.
And this cutie patootie? It's her birthday! Five years ago I was in the hospital getting induced to evict her from her home. Boy the crap that has happened since her birth! A move, new schools, college, two different jobs, and a distroyed marriage. It never ceases to amaze me what can happen so quickly. She is the light of my life and her and her bro's just make it so worth going on for. Horray for offspring and siblings! Love. These. Kids! Peace dudes.

I still can't get any photos off the camera though I have to say the USB port in the front of the 'puter is toast. The one in back? Works great according to my MP3 player LOL. I just need to hook the camera up to it for a wee bit but not tonight, it's late, I'm tired from work and I just want to tell you about my birthday yesterday.

First I went to the arthritis doctor who doesn't think I have
rhuematoid arthritis but is sending me for a test for my thyroid, R.A. and Lupus. He thinks, since I've been having perimenopause symptoms for 5 years that it's osteoarthritis. The tests are more to ease my mind than anything else. My mom told me he was this little jewish man and for some reason I expected this little bald dude like the dentist I went to when I was growing up. Nooooo of course not. This guy was cute and could have been my hubby's cousin or something. He was even older than me which may surprise some of you LOL.

Okay, after talking to a hottie of a doc we went to
Webers Inn in Ann Arbor for lunch. It was my first time eating there and damn, damn, double damn, was it yummmmmmy! We even got escargot and all three boys ate one! I was so proud of them for trying something that is considered, ummm, adventurous. I grew up eating them every Christmas so eating snails doesn't gross me out, as long as they have enough garlic and butter on them. Oysters? Noooo way! My brother went out of his way to make sure I didn't like those so when my oldest suggested we try that I replied with a resounding NO.

I got a pair of pearl and diamond earrings from my in laws and a knitting book from Karl,
Victorian Lace Today. It's a fantastic book if you are interested in this kind of knitting. Love it! When we got home I had a package waiting for me. My good friend Jess sent me a birthday gift and I'm going to have to kick her butt for it too! She got me the first Harry Potter book on CD and even though she lives 20 minutes from me she paid to have UPS deliver it! I can't believe she spent that kind of money and her response? She can. I decided I'm going to make one of the beautiful lace scarves out of my new book for her birthday. I may not have that kind of money but I can spare that kind of time! I've already listened to 4 of the 7 cds too LOL! I'm going to get a little frantic to get the rest now I think. I really, really enjoy listening to it while knitting. It's a fantastic duo. So anyway, that's my birthday for ya. Hope you all have recovered from the holidays! Peace!
